How the New Tax Bill Affects Spousal Support

I have been watching the reconciliation process for the proposed federal tax bill and I am annoyed to tell you that the current reconciled bill does not allow alimony paid as a deduction, nor does it count alimony received as income. If this bill becomes law, it will affect divorces signed after December 31, 2018 and will not affect current cases. The next step for this bill is for both chambers to vote. I will keep you updated when I know more.
